THE ROYALS WON THE WORLD SERIES!
(and I couldn't be happier!)
This season.

THIS season.
This season is one for the record books, quite literally. After the extreme let down of losing Game 7 last year, winning it all this year was like beating your personal best time in a marathon, except much MUCH better.
The agony last October was strong, so strong that I'm pretty sure my seasonal depression was 10 fold. Then Spring Training happened. And it's like the magic that is Royals Baseball started up all over again. I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt like the boys were back in business at the beginning of this season. Baseball was back, and the Royals were here to win it all. Literally.
I'd be lying if I said that our September Slump drove me absolutely batty. The few moments where I thought, "We didn't get this far just to lose it all. We didn't sit in first place for that long just to go out with a pfffffft. Did we?"
I was there with my two oldest when Cueto pitched to clinch the Division, and I will never forget that moment.
I was there when Cueto pitched Game 5 of the ALDS. And I will never forget that either.
Many of the other moments I spent watching on my couch. Cheering into all hours of the night, waking up my children screaming, giving my 5 year old boy the biggest hug and twirl when we FINALLY won, and I won't ever forget those either. It truly was a season to remember, and these memories will be oh so sweet.
I, like many of you, took off for the Parade and trucked down to downtown KC for the experience of a lifetime. And yes, lifetime, since I was just a tinkle in my mama's eye when the Royals won the World Series last time around. We didn't make it down to the Rally, but the joy in my children's faces will forever be worth braving the crowd and (mostly organized) chaos.
Here are my memories:
